How to block prompts to enable/disable site notifications in Chrome (2018)

This is a copy of a post I made from 2018 on another blog that decided to temporarily go away for awhile.  Now that it's back, I figured I'd copy the post over here.  The original post follows below...

Here's a quick tip I was reminded of while I was checking my mail today (credit to Android Police for the reminder):

Everyone who uses Google's Chrome browser has run into this at one time or another:

It's useful and nice to see the first few times around.  Once you see it a few dozen times, though, it can be a bit annoying, especially if you're one of those people who almost never hits "allow".  Well, it's really easy to deal with:  copy/paste or type "chrome://settings/content/notifications" (without the quotes) into your browser's address bar and toggle the switch toward the top labeled "Ask before sending (recommended)", as shown below:

Keep in mind that once you do this, you will no longer get any option to allow notifications from sites; if you, for whatever reason, do want to allow notifications from a specific site, you can come back to this same area in Chrome's settings, see what's been blocked and what the exceptions are, and modify them as  you see fit.

The above was for the desktop version of Chrome; for the Android version it's slightly different.  Simply click/tap the areas outlined in orange in the screenshots below:

That's it!  Once you've done the steps outlined above you won't be bugged by notifications prompts anymore.
